Keerai Sambar


Keerai sambar/Spinach gravy:


This keerai sambar is a very easy and quick side dish for rice.


Ingredients:


Spinach-1/2 bunch
Toor dhal – 1 cup
Tamarind paste
Garlic- 5 pieces
Salt
Mustard
Urid dhal
Onion-1/2
Tomato-2(cut into 4 pieces)
Green chilly-3(cut into 2 pieces vertically)
Asafoetida


Method:

1.Boil water and add toor dhal ,chopped tomatoes,green chillies ,1 tsp of salt,1/2 cup of tamarind water and allow it to cook .

2.Cut the spinach into small pieces.Heat oil in a pan and salute it with mustard , urid dhal and fry chopped onions and add the garlic and fry it.Then add the spinach and fry it until its half cooked .


3.Once the dhal is cooked ,mash it finely using spoon add the fried spinach to the dhal and add 1 cup of water to it and 1 tsp of salt and a pinch of asafoetida and allow it to boil for 3 min .
Serve hot with rice.
